A phone that is nearly four decades old can be replaced with a newer model that comes with new features, according to a study by the Consumer Electronics Association.
The study, conducted by the National Conference of State Legislatures, shows that consumers are buying a more modern phone with features that include a fingerprint reader, a new camera and a fingerprint scanner.
But it doesn’t take long to upgrade.
The Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association, which is an industry trade group, found that the average phone upgrade cost was $1,350 in 2018.
The association is also recommending consumers upgrade to a newer smartphone with new hardware.
The new phone that comes in 2018 includes a faster processor, a larger display, and a faster battery.
That upgrade also comes with a better camera and more advanced software.
“The phone we recommend is the iPhone 6 Plus,” said Mark Reisman, executive vice president and chief technology officer of the CEMA.
“It’s got all the features you would need for everyday use.”
The study was based on a survey of 1,959 cell phone customers, who were asked how many of their phones were replaced and why.
The most common reasons were the phone had been replaced because of service problems or a new model that was more expensive than its predecessor.
But the most common upgrade was the price tag.
More than 70 percent of respondents said they had to pay an extra $1.60 or more to get the new phone.
Consumers who upgrade their phones every two years or more often say the upgrade cost is less than $50, and about one-quarter of them upgrade their phone less than once a year.
“There’s a real incentive to upgrade and to upgrade more often,” said Dr. Scott Aiken, senior vice president for global communications at the American Hospital Association.
“That’s a great incentive for people who are looking for the most up-to-date, latest technology.”
There are plenty of options to upgrade the phone, and the best ones are usually on sale for $200 or less, the study found.
“This is not a product that is necessarily expensive to buy, so I think that people are willing to pay for the upgrade, and it’s definitely an option that’s on the table,” said Reisman.
Some of the options that are on the list include a new battery, a wireless earpiece, a touch screen, and an improved camera.
There are also several other upgrades that can be made to phones, but Reisman said there’s no one “one app” that people want to upgrade to.
“We are not saying that there’s a single app that people should do it.
We are saying, ‘Hey, what can you do that will help you keep up with the new phones?'” he said.
He added that many phones are updated monthly and people can easily get a replacement for less than the cost of the original device.
Consumer Reports said the average price of an iPhone 6 is $999.
It is available for purchase from Apple stores in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
It costs $199 for a 128GB iPhone 6, which has a 5.5-inch screen.
Consumers can also get a 256GB iPhone.
