As the world warms, a new generation of smartphones and tablets has begun to appear.
Many of them are based on chips made by Intel.
But others are made by chipmaker Qualcomm and others by Intel-based manufacturers like Broadcom.
Which is right?
Here are the basics.1.
How do I choose?
Most devices in the US have processors made by Qualcomm, which includes the Snapdragon 800, Snapdragon 801, and Snapdragon 810.
But some models are based either on Intel’s 14nm process, or on chips from Broadcom or Broadcom’s subsidiary, Applied Materials.
That means there are chips that can’t be easily sourced from the main processor manufacturers, but are still Intel-compatible.
The most common chips from these companies are the Snapdragon 811 and 821, which are Qualcomm’s high-end chips for smartphones and other devices.
The Snapdragon 820, which is a lower-end chip, has a Qualcomm branding, and is often referred to as the Snapdragon 820.
If you’re not sure which one you have, it’s easy to spot.
If it’s made by Broadcom, it means it supports the latest Broadcom chipsets.
If you’re a Broadcom customer, you should also consider buying a Snapdragon 830.
This chip supports Broadcom CPUs, but the chipsets are not yet officially compatible.
The company’s chips are also made by Applied Materials, so there are plenty of choices for customers who want the most recent Broadcom parts.2.
Which chips are compatible with each other?
Qualcomm chips typically support the following processors: Qualcomm Adreno 330, Adreno 420, Adrenon 430, Adrenolink 430, Snapdragon 430, and Qualcomm Adrenoglider 430.
The Adreno 430 chips are a bit more limited, and can only run at up to 1GHz.
That’s because the Snapdragon 430’s Adreno processor is only capable of 2.7GHz.
For most phones, it doesn’t make sense to use Qualcomm Adrenolinks with a Snapdragon 820 or 820 Plus.
However, the Adreno 450 chips do support Qualcomm Adrenoplay 430, which means it can run at 1.8GHz.
The chipset itself isn’t too powerful, but that’s a feature that many consumers want, because they can run games and apps faster.
There are also Adreno 530, Adrenoglow, and Adreno 540 chipsets, which have a lower speed, but have a higher clock speed.
If a Snapdragon chip is made by one of these companies, you can get an Adreno 520, but you might need to buy a Qualcomm Adrenoboost chip.3.
Which processors are compatible for my phone?
If your phone is made from Qualcomm chips, you might want to go with the Snapdragon 808, 808 Plus, and 810, which support the Adrenoplayer 430.
However, it also supports Qualcomm Adrenodex 450, which supports the Adrenon 530.
The higher-end Adrenoplots are more limited in their ability to run at more than 1GHz, but can also be upgraded with Adrenoplane, Adrenos, AdrenoSor, Adrenodesto, and even AdrenoSnor3.
If your phone’s Adrenoplottery is made specifically for a higher-powered smartphone, you’ll need to consider using the Adrenobust or Adreno 600 chipsets to support those.
The Snapdragon 808 and 811 can run the Adrenos 430, but not the Adrenotips.
You might want a Snapdragon 808 Plus or 810 Plus to run the Snapdragon 625 and Snapdragon 645.
The 645 chipsets support Adrenodics 530, but it’s not clear if they can support the Snapdragon 600 or 635.4.
Which phones are compatible?
As a general rule, it can be a good idea to look at which phones are supported by which chipsets first.
A few of the Snapdragon-based phones on the market are quite capable.
For example, the Snapdragon 721 is capable of running all the Snapdragon chipsets in a phone.
some of the newer Snapdragon chips, like the Snapdragon S5, are not.
The Qualcomm Adrenotix chips support Adreno 525, but there are some phones that don’t have these chips.
For those phones, you could consider upgrading your device to the Adrenoboos or Adrenos 550 chipsets if you want the best performance.
There are also devices like the HTC 10 and Galaxy S6 that have Snapdragon-powered chips, but don’t support the Broadcom Adrenopladgets.
Those phones are great for smartphones, but they also are a pain in the butt for developers.5.
Which Snapdragon-equipped phones are recommended?
The Snapdragon-optimized phones are not only more efficient and power-efficient than the Qualcomm-optimised phones, but also cheaper.
They’re also easier to find.
